Essential to the Korean Table
White Rice, medium grain and completely unseasoned, is essential to the Korean table. It balances the hot Korean chili paste, which is important to the Korean table as Salt is to Western palates.
Here’s a simple recipe for Glutinous Rice or Sticky Rice, in the Korean style.
which would go well with dishes like Bulkogi or Barbecued Beef, Fresh Kimchi, and Spinach Korean Style.
1½ cups medium grain Sticky Rice
2½ cups Water
Rinse and drain the Rice well. Combine the Rice and Water in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower the heat, cover the pot and simmer for 12 minutes. Turn off the head and allow to stand, covered, for another 10 minutes before serving.
This recipe makes about 4 cups of White Rice.
