Prepared Sesame Seed

Essential Korean Seasoning

This form of prepared Sesame Seeds is essential in Korean cooking.   Fortunately it is easily made:


1 cup White Sesame Seed
1 teaspoon Salt


Put the Sesame Seeds in a heavy dry iron skillet and brown slowly over a low fire, stirring constantly so they don’t burn.When the seeds are brown and puffed up a bit, remove at once from the fire and let them cool a bit, add the Salt and mx well.  Any leftover can be stored in a tightly closed jar for a few days.  Korean cooks usually make this in fairly small quantities as needed.
