Prunes and Red Wine Are Keys
An Alternative to the Standard American Burger



This Japanese approach to Hamburgers braised with Prunes and Red Wines is a delicious veresion, which stands in remarkable contrast to the commonly eaten Burgers which are so common in the Standard American Diet, which usually come with a White Bun and a large serving of deep-fried Potatoes.

Hamburgers Braised with Prunes and Wine





150 grams Ground Beef
1/2 Onion
150 grams Ground Pork
1/2 cup   Panko
2 tablespoons Milk
1 Egg
¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
Pinch Ground Nutmeg
1/3 average Carrot
1 average Potato
2 teaspoons Salad Oil
1/2 cup Red Wine
1/2 cup Water
1/2 can or 200 grams canned Diced Tomatoes
12 seeded Prunes
1 teaspoon medium sauce, like A-1 or Bulldog
Salad Oil
Black pepper1 slice Butter

Serves 2 persons with about 760 calories peer serving, 3 grams sodium


How to cook delicious and healthy Asian dishes using tomatoes


Combine with Beeef and Pork to make 300 grams of Aibiki.  Add the Onion, Panko, Milk, Egg, Salt, Pepper and Nutmeg and knead well to combine.  Divide into four potions.  Shape each portion into a ball and flatten somewhat to form a rather thick oval-shaped thick burgeer..

Peel the Carrot and Potato and slice into long spearslike for French fries.  Pre-cook for about 6 minutes in a microwave oven and set aside.

When ready to cook, heat a skillet large enough to hold all four burgers.  When the skillet is hot, put in 2 teaspoons of Vegetable Oil, and swirl the pan to cat evenly with the oil.

Put in the burgers and grill on both sides for a total of about 1½ to 2 minutes, until b oth sides are well-browned and crisp. Use a piece of kitchen paper towel to put in the skillet and blot up any excess fat in he pan.  Discuss the towel.

Add half a cup of Red Wine to the skillet, then  put in the seeded Prunes, Tomatoes, the Potatoes and Carrots and half a cup of Water.  Continue braising over low fire for another 12 – 15 minutes, using a wooden spoon to break up and mash the Prunes as they sofen during the cooking rocess.

At the end of he cooking process, finish the seasoning the adding a teaspoon of Steak Sauce like  A-1 or Bulldog Sauce, Salt and Pepper to taste.  Ift thesauce tastes too tart, add one or two pinches of Sugar to taste.  Finally add a single slice of Butter.  When the Butter melts, the dish is ready to serve.

To serve, ladle the braised Burgers on a plate, adding the coked Vegetables and reduced Wine and Prune Sauce.  This could be served with White Rice on the side.
