A Fusion Touch
Since Milk is not an ingredient in traditional Japanese cuisine, there is a touch of Fusion in this Japanese way of preparing Snow Peas. The use of “exotic” Western and other Asian ingredients has now become pretty common in modern Japanese cuisine, so we may think of this dish as just Japanese, after all.
Snow Peas Simmered In Milk
¾ pound Snow Peas
1 cup Milk
¼ teaspoon Salt
First remove the ends and strings from about ¾ pound (about 250 grams) Snow Pease.
Put the peas into a cup of hot Milk
Stir the Peas, then heat quickly to a boil and simmer for about 6 to 8 minutes. Add half a teaspoon of Salt and serve immediately.
This is a nice side dish for Japanese food or indeed any meal. See also the basic recipe for Snow Peas.
